TIP#3 FROM PARENTING SIMPLIFIED: HOW TO PREPARE FOR BACK TO SCHOOL

Does anyone else feel like this summer has flown by? Between weekend trips to the mountains and sunny days spent at the lake—and plenty of popsicles and lemonade stands in between—this summer has been filled with fun. But I can't believe it's already August! And moms all know what that means: school is right around the corner.

With that in mind, we're excited to share some great back-to-school tips from Lily Morgan of Parenting Simplified this week. Below, Lily shares advice for easing our kiddos back to school and preparing them for the shift from summer's carefree days to a more structured schedule.

START A DAILY ROUTINE

"A good tip is to start a daily routine a few weeks before school begins so your kids are used to it when the first day of school arrives," says Lily. "Get them in the habit of going to bed earlier and waking up earlier, so their bodies don’t feel overly tired at school."

USE A BEHAVIOR CHART

"Also, use a behavior chart to encourage your kids to be in charge of themselves as much as possible," she says. "For kiddos who aren’t reading yet, draw pictures on the behavior chart of what they need to do to get ready in the morning."

Have you failed miserably with behavior charts like I have? Do you not know how to use them properly? Lucky for you, you can purchase the cutest behavior charts WITH GUIDED INSTRUCTIONS over at Lily's blog. I followed her instructions and finally had success. Head over there now to purchase.
