Do your kids already know how to take a selfie? So do mine. Do you ever worry about the effects of social media and our culture of self promotion in creating a mini narcissist?

Kids can get so much praise from outside sources, so how do we provide them with positive feedback that encourages them and teaches them self love as well as humility?


THE RIGHT KIND OF PRAISE FOR CHILDREN:

 

We asked parenting expert Lily Morgan of Parenting Simplified for tips about how to provide the right type of praise for children. Here's what she had to say: 

"There is a lot of conversation these days about whether to praise kids or not. Some people say that because parents are praising kids, they are creating a generation of narcissists. Yet, many child experts encourage praising of children. 

The behaviors you pay attention to, are the behaviors you encourage in your kids! 

I believe in praise. The behaviors you pay attention to, are the behaviors you encourage in your kids! However, research shows that the way you praise matters. Notice how you praise. It’s best to praise effort!"
